News flash: Cuban punk icon gets stabbed to death, authorities aren’t saying shit

William Fabián, leader and singer of Cuba’s first-ever punk band Eskoria, was stabbed to death in Santa Clara the night of January 30th.
I just found out about Eskoria being the first-ever Cuban punk band (around since 1994). The word around the web was that this guy was pretty outrageous onstage and in life. I regret finding out about him this way.
Eskoria’s presence on Cuban rock websites that are not free to mention Porno Para Ricardo gives me pause, but my friend Charlie Bravo, now blogging again (hooray) in Espani at aRRoz con pUnk, has called out the authorities for not giving details regarding the case (a nameless 15-year-old suspect is in custody) and smells a rat, affirming that Eskoria stood against the Castro regime and implying foul play on their part.
PPR/Babosa Azul axeman Ciro Diaz also paid his respects via Twitter.
